MAKING WAVES PROGRAM: Prepare Right, Eat Right, Live Righ
t!
As the Milwaukee Wave Professional Indoor Soccer Team enters it’s 27th season of play, the team upholds a long-standing tradition of commitment to the community and success in the national landscape. With over 55,000 registered youth players in Wisconsin, soccer has been able to bridge the gap among age, gender andethnicity unlike any other sport. The Milwaukee Wave provides southeastern Wisconsin youth, families and fansprofessional soccer in a fast paced atmosphere. Throughout the Wave’s history in Milwaukee, they have emerged as the premier partner in community outreach.
Making Waves is the largest multifaceted, multi-media, community outreach program by a professional sports team in the state.
Players conduct an all school assembly teaching the importance of preparing, eating and living right. Schools are then provided the Health Education for Youth (HEY) curriculum which is approved by Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to meet health educational standards. The four part series features articles about Wave players and staff, as well as expert-written stories about health topics that go hand in hand with the assembly. Schools may then choose to participate in a school day exhibition game or have a school outing at a regular season Wave game.
