JONATHAN GREENFIELD ON MISL TEAM OF THE WEEK

TAMPA, Fla. – The Major Indoor Soccer League announced on Tuesday that Pennsylvania Roar goalkeeper Peter Pappas has been named the MISL Player of the Week for the 10th week of the 2013-14 regular season. Pappas recorded a shutout as the Roar claimed their first win in franchise history on Sunday afternoon with victory against the St. Louis Ambush.

Wave defender Jonathan Greenfield was selected for the team after a five-point night in Saturday's 16-4 win over Missouri. Greenfield had a 2-point goal and 3-point goal as the Wave built a 7-0 halftime lead.

Pappas has been a bright spot for the Roar in their inaugural season and was at his best against the Ambush. Despite being outshot by St. Louis, Pappas recorded 32 saves and his defense blocked 23 shots as the Roar claimed a 16-0 victory. The performance raised Pappas’ save percentage this season to .729, good for fifth in the league.

Joining Pappas on the Team of the Week was his Roar teammate Pete Rowley, who scored the opening two goals of the game to send his side on its way to victory. Rowley was joined on the forward line by Missouri’s Lucas Rodriguez, who had a hat trick in the Comets’ 22-4 win against Milwaukee on Friday night.

Rochester’s Jake Schindler earned one of the two defensive berths on the team as his two goals helped the Lancers claim a 16-14 victory against Syracuse on Friday night. He was joined by the Silver Knights’ Bo Jelovac, who scored the game-winning goal with 58 seconds to play in Syracuse’s dramatic 9-8 win against Baltimore on Sunday.

The MISL continues this weekend with six games, highlighted by a pair of games on Friday night as the Syracuse Silver Knights and Baltimore Blast face off at Baltimore Arena, and the Missouri Comets and St. Louis Ambush renew their burgeoning rivalry.
