MUNOZ HAT TRICK HELPS WAVE BEAT BALTIMORE

Carlos Munoz

MILWAUKEE – The Major Indoor Soccer League announced on Tuesday that Milwaukee Wave Forward Carlos Munoz has been named the MISL Player of the Week for the fourth week of the 2013-2014 regular season. Munoz scored three goals in Saturday’s 12-10 come-from-behind win over the defending champion Baltimore Blast, including the game-winning goal with only 20 seconds remaining in the game. The Wave remain undefeated (4-0) with the win.

Munoz, born in Montevideo, Uruguay, scored goals in the first quarter, third quarter (3-point), and fourth quarter. Munoz’s third goal completed the hat trick, and was the scoring difference in the victory for the Wave.

Defender Judson McKinney joins Munoz on the Team of the Week. McKinney, born in Ferrekesse dou-gou, Cote D’Ivoire, connected on a 3-point goal that tied the game at 10 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game. Both McKinney and Munoz were signed this past offseason.

Munoz is the third Milwaukee Wave player to be given Player of the Week honors. Midfielder/Forward Ian Bennett won the award on November 19th (Week 1), after scoring five goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime, against the Missouri Comets on November 16th. Goalkeeper Nick Vorberg took home the honors on November 26th (Week 2) after allowing only two goals in a pair of matches, including a shutout (8-0) over the Baltimore Blast. A Wave player has won the award each week the team was in action. There have been two representatives on Team of the Week each of the last two weeks the Wave have been in action (Week 4 – F Carlos Munoz and D Judson McKinney; Week 2 – GK Nick Vorberg and D Victor Quiroz).
