Milwaukee Wave head coach, Keith Tozer, will once again lead the US National Futsal CONCACAF team. Wave's midfielder Matt Stewart was also named to the U.S. roster. Both men will be traveling July 2 to 8 for the CONCACAF Futsal Championship in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
The U.S. plays Panama on July 2, Canada or El Salvador on July 3 and Guatemala on July 4. The top finishers in the eight-team qualifier earn berths in the FIFA Futsal World Cup from Nov. 1 to 18 in Thailand. All the matches are live around the world on www.Goltv.com
For the first time in 16 years of coaching the U.S. National Futsal team, Coach Tozer could potentially play against someone from his own MISL team. Ian Bennett, a member of the 2012 MISL Wave Championship team, is a native of Canada and a member of the Canadian Futsal Team which the U.S could face on July 3.
“I think we’re a very fit team, a strong team and a team that is physically prepared,” said Tozer. “A lot of these players come from professional teams in the Major Indoor Soccer League. They have won championships in Baltimore, they have won championships in Milwaukee, they have won championships in a lot of the other cities they come from. I think their professional pedigree will also help in this tournament as we carry on and run through it.”
