The Wave return to action Saturday looking to get things heading in the right direction after a disappointing 1-2 start to the season. They welcome the Chicago Soul to the U.S. Cellular Arena in the two team’s first matchup.
The Wave started off the season strong with a road victory against the Wichita Wings. Hewerton paced the team with two goals helping the team to garner the victory. After that the team struggled, losing the home opener in overtime to the Missouri Comets, and then suffering a 15-4 defeat on the road the following week against Baltimore. So far the Wave have had strong contributions from Jonathan Greenfield (who leads the team with 8 points), along with Hewerton and Giuliano Oliviero each of whom have 5 points on the season.
Chicago Soul is a newcomer to the MISL this year and come to the Milwaukee with a 2-4 record. The Soul got the season started on the right track with a 13-8 victory over Syracuse, but followed with four straight losses, recently snapping that skid with another win over Syracuse. Carlos Munoz has started off the season hot with 20 points (8 2 point goals). Former Milwaukee Wave player Matt Stewart is also a key contributor adding 13 points of his own and coming off a hat trick last weekend.
The United Way of Greater Milwaukee (http://www.unitedwaymilwaukee.org/home) is the BMO Harris Bank Jersey Program charity for the game. The first 5,000 fans will receive a magnetic schedule courtesy of YNB Real Estate. Sponsoring Sunday’s game is YNB Real Estate, Cooper Power Systems, BMO Harris Bank
, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Following the game is a concert by the Tim Allen Band.
