The Milwaukee Wave signed veteran, Marcelo Fontana, pending league approval. A 15-year veteran in the CISL, NPSL, and MISL, Fontana brings plenty of experience to the Wave team. With forwards Marcio Leite and Ismael Hernandez both on injured reserve Fontana returns to help the team make another run at an MISL title.
Fontana played for the Wave for nine years and was an integral part of the 2004-05 championship team. He ranks eighth in team history with 263 games played, and ninth with 132 goals. Fontana retired in 2010 accepting a player and head coaching position. He will wear the Wave uniform again at tomorrow’s home game against the Chicago Soul pending approval.
The BMO Harris Bank Charity of the Game is the United Way of Greater Milwaukee. Game sponsors include Cooper Power Systems, YNB, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Attendees are encouraged to bring teddy bears to throw onto the field after the Wave’s first goal as part of the annual teddy bear toss to benefit local charities.
