MILWAUKEE WAVE ANNOUNCES 2013 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

The Milwaukee Wave is thrilled to announce the 2013 Wave Hall of Fame Inductees. Former Wave players Jimmy Banks and Ricky Mobley along with Wave fan and Dawn Urban will be inducted on January 12th during the Milwaukee Wave game.

Jimmy Banks began his soccer career at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, earning All-American honors as a forward for the team.  He would eventually switch to playing defense, and after graduating college he was drafted by the Milwaukee Wave, playing with the team from 1987-93, being named an all-star in 1992.  Banks also played on the national level earning 35 caps between 1986 and 91, two of those games being at the 1990 FIFA World Cup.  Banks became the head soccer coach at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1999, a position he still holds this day, and continues to do work with the Boys & Girls Club of Milwaukee. In 1999 he was inducted into UWM Athletic Hall of Fame.

Ricky Mobley played his college soccer at Campbell University, where he started all four years, and was an All-Big South conference selection for three of them.  Mobley played defender for the Milwaukee Wave for seven seasons.  He was a member of the Wave’s first championship team in 1997-98, while also being named the team’s defender of the year in 1996 and 97.  Mobley was named second-team All-National Professional Soccer League after the 1996-1997 campaign, but following the 1998-99 season Mobley retired due to injuries, but did so as the all-time leader in block shots for the team  (he is now fourth).  Mobley currently is the head men’s soccer coach at Carroll University, and is pursuing his master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration.

Dawn Urban is has been an avid fan, a member of the Wave’s Booster Club and an overall advocate for many years.

The Wave’s next home game is December 22nd. Flex pack tickets and individual game tickets are on sale. Visit www.milwaukeewave.com or 414.224.9283 for more information.
