The Milwaukee Wave strive to extend their eight game winning streak this week as they face two tough opponents in Missouri and Baltimore.
The Wave will look to Marcio Leite, one of their leading scorers this season who was named today to the MISL Team of the Week for the second straight week, for offensive pressure. Leite was key in the second half comeback on Saturday, which gave the Wave a 13-10 victory over Syracuse. After being down 6-2 at the half the Wave turned things up to come out on top. Hewerton scored two goals, while Leite added a three pointer of his own.
The Wave travel to Missouri on Thursday, January 10 at 7:35 p.m. The game will be shown live on Time Warner Sports32 along with www.mislnation.com. This will be the first time the teams face off since Missouri defeated the Wave at home in the second game of the season. The Wave had the lead throughout most of the game, but a late goal by Missouri’s Will John forced overtime. The Comets scored quickly giving to take one from the Wave.
The Wave return home on Saturday, January 12th at 4:00 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Arena. The Blast and Wave have so far split the two meetings of the season, and both want to win, as the winner will likely takeover first place in the MISL standings. In the first meeting Baltimore came out on top with a 15-4 win thanks to a solid team effort, as seven different players scored a goal. In the two team’s second meeting the Wave evened the season series with a 6-5 victory.
