The Wave’s 10-8 overtime win over rival Blast extended the Wave’s winning streak to ten games putting them at the top of the MISL standings for the first time this season.
Midway through the first quarter the game remained scoreless thanks to great goalkeeping and defense by each team, however things would change, as two quick goals by Tony Donatelli and Machel Millwood put Baltimore up 4-0. The Wave came out determined in the second quarter and dominated play. Fabinho scored on a header to trim Baltimore’s lead to 4-2. Ian Bennett found the back of the net which sent the teams into half tied.
At the beginning of the third quarter Ian Bennett scored once again, and in doing so gave the Wave a 6-4 lead, their first of the game. Baltimore answered back when the ball deflected off Lucas Roque and into the net, tying the game at 6-6 where the score would remain due to defensive pressure from both teams.
The back and forth action continued in the fourth quarter. Tenzin Rampa scored for the Wave which was answered by Donatelli’s second goal of the game making it 8-8. The teams continued to be evenly matched sending the game into overtime. Wave’s Josh Rife scored the golden goal in overtime giving the Wave the victory.
