ANOTHER WAVE PLAYER OUT FOR SEASON DUE TO INJURY

MARCELO FONTANA OUT FOR SEASON.jpg
The Milwaukee Wave extended their season long winning streak to 15 games with a 29-15 win over Missouri this past Saturday.  However, the news wasn’t all good as the team found out early Sunday morning Marcelo Fontana, who rejoined the team in the middle of the season, will be out for the rest of the year due to a broken ankle.  This is another devastating injury for the team, who also lost Jonathan Santos earlier in the year due to an ACL injury.

Head Coach Keith Tozer said, "Having Marcelo break his ankle is very sad for us for so many reasons. He has been such a inspirational player for us on the field and off and his heart and soul will be surely missed! To have Jonathan Santos and now Marcelo lost for the season will be irreplaceable!"

Santos’s injury came on January 19th after the team extended their winning streak to a franchise record 12 games.  Santos had a total of eight points on three goals and two assists. However, the area Santos made a big impact on is the defensive side as he had 17 blocks on the year.

Fontana has been a huge spark for the Wave since his return to the team.   He has scored goals in five of the team’s games, while recording a point in seven.  On the season Fontana has played in 15 games recording seven two point goals and seven assists for a total of 21 points.

Both players will be sorely missed, but the team will have to carry on without them as they try to continue to extend their winning streak, and capture another MISL Championship.  The team’s next game is this Sunday against Rochester at 3 p.m. at the U.S Cellular Arena.
