SEVERAL WAVE PLAYERS EARN MISL HONORS

26 IAN BENNETT in action v SYRACUSE- MISL .jpgIan Bennett of the Milwaukee Wave has been named the MISL Offensive Player of the Month for February. Bennett has been an integral part of the Wave finishing the regular season with a 21-5 record, but played exceptionally well in the month of February.

Bennett tallied a point, and scored a goal in each Milwaukee’s February games, including hat tricks in back to back games against Missouri and Chicago. For the month he finished with a total of 33 points.

The Goalkeeper of the month went to William Valveza of the Baltimore Blast, while Defensive Player of the Month went to Ptah Myers, also of Baltimore.

For the final week of the MISL regular season, the Wave’s Nick Perera was named the player of the week for the league. Perera totaled five goals and two assists during the Wave’s three game stretch. He had two goals in both matches against Syracuse, and added another against Wichita.He had an assist in each game against Syracuse as well.

MARCEL FEENSTRA in action v WINGS.jpgMilwaukee goalkeeper Marcel Feenstra also made the MISL team of the week for his play. Feenstra won games against Syracuse and Wichita, recording 23 saves against the Silver Knights and 18 against the Wings. His points against average totaled 7.00 for the two matchups. Joining Perera and Feenstra on the team were Ryan Junge and Vahid Assadpour of Missouri, and Carlos “Chile” Farias and Carlos Munoz from Chicago. Milwaukee’s Bennett and goalie Nick Vorberg earned honorable mention.

Speaking of Vorberg, he claimed the points against average award for the regular season, leading all goalkeepers with a 7.76 PAA, a career best. He also led the league with .815 save percentage. Other award winners include Rochester’s Doug Miller (overall and goal scoring champion), and Tiguinho (assist champion).

Milwaukee will head on the road to Missouri on Thursday, March 7th to take on the Comets in their first game of the MISL Playoffs. The Wave returns home on Sunday, March 10th in the second meeting of the playoff series. Game time is at 3 p.m. $7 tickets are available for the game. There will be a viewing party for Game 1 of the MISL Playoff Series between the Wave and Missouri Comets on March 7th.
The viewing party will begin at 7 p.m. and the game starts at 7:35 p.m. From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
There will be $1 quarter pound burgers (add-ons extra) and $1.25 7oz Miller High Life’s.

On Saturday March 9th at 7 p.m. it will be Women’s Soccer Casino Night at the Peck Welcoming Center at the Milwaukee County Zoo with members of your Milwaukee Wave. If you sign up prior to the event cost will be $45, at the door $50, and $35 group rate for two or more people. Those who attend will receive $300 worth of free gambling chips (with the opportunity to buy more). There will be music, dancing, gambling, plus free beer.
