3 GOALS IN 50 SECONDS DRIVE WAVE PAST AMBUSH

ST. CHARLES, MO (Feb. 21) — Three goals in a 50-second span of the third quarter propelled the Milwaukee Wave to their seventh consecutive victory on Friday, 20-9 over the St. Louis Ambush at Family Arena.

Milwaukee (15-2) maintained its one-game lead over Baltimore (14-3) in the Major Indoor Soccer League standings with three to play.

The Waved led 8-4 at halftime before pouring on 12 points in the third period, pressuring high from the beginning and forcing Ambush turnovers. Marcio Leite scored 1:25 into the period, followed 17 seconds later by Nick Perera and 33 seconds after that by Hewerton. St. Louis displayed a brief spark with five consecutive points, but Milwaukee continued rolling. Ian Bennett scored for a 16-9 advantage and then Luan Oliveira tallied back-to-back goals for a 20-9 lead.

The Wave scored at least 50 points in consecutive games for the fourth time in their history, and the first since Dec. 5-6, 1998. Last Saturday, Milwaukee beat St. Louis 30-4.

Leite, Perera and Oliveira each scored two goals, while Bennett took sole possession of the league scoring race with a goal, giving him 61 points.

JC Banks got the Wave off to a good short just 2:35 into the game, Philip Surprise notching the assist. Perera scored nine seconds before the end of the quarter to make it 6-2, and the teams traded goals in the second quarter before the third-quarter fireworks.

Keeper Marcel Feenstra made 10 saves to improve to 11-1
