4 WAVE PLAYERS EARN MISL SEASON HONORS

MILWAUKEE (March 11) — Milwaukee Wave midfielder Marcio Leite was named to the All-Major Indoor Soccer League first team for the 2013-14 season, the league announced Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Marcel Feenstra and forward Ian Bennett were named to the second team, while defender Tony Walls was tabbed for the All-Rookie team. Teams are selected through a vote by MISL team management.

Leite, in his eighth year in Milwaukee, concluded the regular season fourth in the MISL in scoring and second in assists. The native of Sergipe, Brazil scored one 3-point goal, 18 2-point goals and 22 assists for 61 points. Twice in a game this year he scored eight points, against Pennsylvania on Feb. 16 and against St. Louis on March 1.

Bennett's fifth season in Milwaukee was his best, with four 3-pointers, 23 2-pointers and six assists for 64 points, third in the MISL. He won the league's Golden Boot award for scoring the most overall goals, starting with an electrifying five-goal performance in the season opener that led the Wave to a 23-21 overtime win at Missouri. Bennett is from Hamilton, Ontario.

Feenstra has shared duties with Nick Vorberg during his seven seasons with the Wave, but with Vorberg sidelined from December on due to an injury, he played a career-high 16 regular-season matches, posting a 13-3 mark and 10.06 points-against average. In his career Feenstra, a native of Den Helder, Holland, has an .800 regular-season winning percentage (56-14).

Walls, a star at Wauwatosa East high school and UW-Green Bay, played 18 matches as he was called upon to help fill the void left by departing all-stars Josh Rife and Joe Hammes in the back line. Walls scored 11 points during the regular season and blocked nine shots.
