LOCAL COLLEGE SOCCER CONTINUES PLAY
UW-Milwaukee Men’s Soccer team is finishing out the regular season conference play by playing host to Reigning Horizon League Champions Cleveland State on Saturday, November 9th at 7:00pm where they try to lock up the two-seed for the Horizon Championship Tournament. Currently UW-Milwaukee sits in second place in the conference standings with a 4-2 conference record, and an overall record of 12-2-2. UW-Milwaukee leads the Horizon league with 30 goals. Laurie Bell leads UW-Milwaukee and the league with 11 goals. The 2013 Horizon League Championship begins on November 12th, with Quarterfinal action. UW-Milwaukee Women’s Soccer have claimed the Horizon League crown for the 14 th straight year, after beating Oakland by a score of 1-0 last Friday night. Milwaukee finishes the regular season with an 8-8-1 record along with a 6-1 record in conference. This has earned Milwaukee the one-seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Panthers will host the semi-final matchup against Detroit tomorrow night, November 8th, at 7:00pm. UWM looks to advance to the Championship round which will be played November 10th. Marquette Women’s Soccer team have won the Big East regular season title. Finishing with an impressive 16-3-0 record, along with a convincing 9-0-0 conference mark. With The Golden Eagles finished out the regular season with a 2-1 victory over conference rivals Butler. Marquette will begin the quest for the Big East Championship crown when the Big East Championship continues this Saturday, November 8that 7:30pm when the Eagles place host to St. Johns in a semifinal match at Valley Fields. Marquette Men’s Soccer team is sitting with a 10-4-2 overall record after beating Seton Hall with a 2-1 victory. The wins moves the Golden Eagles into sole possession of first-place in the BIG EAST, with posting a 6-1-1 record in the Big East. With one regular season match left the Golden Eagles look to lock up the top seed in the Big East Championship, which will begin November 15 th. The Eagles need a win against DePaul in Chicago, Ill on November 8th at Noon. A win will give Marquette a bye and put them into the semifinals of the conference tournament. Women’s Soccer:
MSOE beat Concordia Wisconsin in an exciting fashion last Sunday. Down 3-1 with 11 minutes to go, the Raiders came back to tie it up in regulation and went on to win it in double overtime with a final score of 4-3.
MSOE then advanced to the Semifinals of the NACC Women’s Soccer Tournament to face top seeded Edgewood, but this time lost by a score of 0-1 in double overtime.
Men’s Soccer:
Concordia Wisconsin held on against MSOE in a first round matchup of the NACC Tournament with a 3-2 victory. The Falcons were up 3-0 after the first half, then giving up 2 goals in the second half which gave the Falcons a little scare.
CUW advanced to the semifinals to face the second-seed Dominican, where they suffered a 0-5 defeat.
