MASL SELECTS ALVAREZ FOR DEFENDER OF THE WEEK HONORS.

The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced today that Milwaukee Wave Defender Mario Alvarez has been named Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3 of MASL action.

Alvarez had a well rounded weekend on the road notching 2 goals, 2 assist and 2 blocks on as many games.

Mario Alvarez on;

The season so far….
“We've played three great games despite the loss to St. Louis. It’s just one of those little bumps but to have seven points and the first three games away; I don't think many people would have thought that.”

What practice has been like this season with Coach Leite at the helm…
“All the vibes have been high the vibes have been great. Even on the away trips the vibes are there, you know, everybody's happy. Everybody's ready to play and if somebody gets hurt, next man up, everybody's excited and ready to contribute even if your name's called or not.”

The mix of young guys and veteran players on the team…
Oh, you know I consider myself a young guy. Today's my birthday but I still feel young, you know, I look the part and I feel like I play the part hopefully, but these young guys are definitely giving out their energy and I feel like it helps out the older guys as well. They press they run they run for everybody; for themselves, for the team, putting their bodies on the line. It just helps us all gain confidence and move the ball just with that old-school Milwaukee soccer style. That's the engine of the team right now and that’s we need; it's been great. Looking forward to see everyone on Friday at Panther Arena.”
