Had a hat trick as Wave rallied to defeat Blast

TAMPA, Fla. – The Major Indoor Soccer League announced on Tuesday that Milwaukee Wave forward Carlos Munoz has been named the MISL Player of the Week for the fourth week of the 2013-14 regular season. Munoz had a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, as the Wave rallied to defeat the Baltimore Blast 12-10 on Saturday night.

Munoz had the Wave’s opening goal of the game, but the Blast then went on a three-goal run that extended their lead to 10-2 late in the third quarter. It was then that Munoz sparked the comeback, scoring from 3-point range to make the score 10-5 with 15 minutes to play. Giuliano Oliviero and Judson McKinney, with a second 3-pointer, then pulled the Wave level, but it wasn’t until the final minute that Munoz capped the victory as he scored the decisive goal with 20 seconds to play.

McKinney joins Munoz on the Team of the Week after the defender’s 3-point goal with just less than 10 minutes to play brought his side level. He is joined in defense by the Rochester Lancers’ Pedrinho, whose 3-point goal set his side on its way to victory against Pennsylvania on Friday night.

Rochester’s Gary Boughton is also selected after scoring a pair of goals, including one short-handed, against the Roar, while the forward line is completed by Baltimore’s Max Ferdinand, who had two goals and an assist for the Blast against Milwaukee. Pennsylvania’s Peter Pappas takes the goalkeeper position after recording 18 saves for the Roar against the Lancers.

The MISL continues this weekend with four contests, with the Syracuse Silver Knights aiming to maintain their undefeated start to the season at home against the St. Louis Ambush, and a rematch of the opening weekend’s thrilling contest between the Missouri Comets and Milwaukee Wave.
