MILWAUKEE WAVE CHALLENGE THE AMBUSH TWICE IN BACK TO BACK SHOWDOWN.

MILWAUKEE, WI - The 7-time Champion Milwaukee Wave will meet the St. Louis Ambush twice for a back to back weekend series.

The Milwaukee Wave travel to Missouri on Saturday, January 24 to meet the St. Louis Ambush for the first time since their overtime loss in December. Both teams have found their footing since that matchup. The Ambush are riding the momentum of their win against the Strykers on the previous Friday. The Milwaukee Wave hold the league’s highest point average against the amount of games played after splitting the weekend with the San Diego Sockers and Kansas City Comets, effectively seating the Wave in the most advantageous position in the MASL table.

“I think it’s gone really well… Having played 6 games away from home, we’re really happy with how the season has gone,” Said Head Coach Marcio Leite. He’s proud of his boys but acknowledges their hunger and continued room for growth, “We’re very ambitious. The team is ambitious, the coaching staff is ambitious, and we know that we could have done better,” He said. The standard is high for Leite’s locker room and taking control in back to back weekend’s is a new focus for the team.

“Their confidence is high, they believe that they can play and beat against anybody in a league,” Leite said, when asked about the St. Louis Ambush and the season they’ve been having. The Ambush seem to have found their identity before the halfway point in their season and, though they sit in the bottom half of the league standings, appear to have a serious drive with their eyes on playoff success. This Ambush team is young, zealous, and quick, and could cause some serious challenges for the Milwaukee Wave when faced with meeting them twice in a 48 hour window.

“We’re going to go with a lot of respect, but we also believe in our staff and in our roster,” Leite said. The Milwaukee Wave will look to start each game with the same vigour and focus that they’ve shown in the late-game stages this season and respecting their opponent is a big piece of the puzzle. In a previous interview, Leite mentioned that he has not yet coached an easy game this season. This is not to discredit the Milwaukee Wave’s prowess, on the contrary it compliments the talent on each team in a condensed Major Arena Soccer League; every team belongs, every team is a serious contender.

The Milwaukee Wave face the St. Louis Ambush at Family Arena in St. Louis, Missouri on  Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 4:05pm CST.

They’ll have a rematch against the Ambush the next day at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 3:05pm CST.
