MILWAUKEE WAVE SUPPORTS LOCAL COLLEGE SOCCER PROGRAMS

With your Milwaukee Wave season fast approaching, only 36 DAYS, your local college soccer teams are closing out their seasons.

Below is a summary of a few successful local college soccer teams that are closing out their respective seasons:

Men’s local college soccer is in action this Saturday, November 2nd, in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament, when fourth-seeded Concordia University Wisconsin will play host to fifth seeded MSOE at Fitting Field starting at 1:00pm.

Concordia Wisconsin is entering the Conference Tournament on a two game winning streak, and a conference record of 6-3-1, with an overall record of 9-7-2. All season long Concordia Wisconsin has been led by its defense, allowing a .970 GAA. Along with sophomore forward Keegan Van Dusseldorp leading the offense with a team leading 10 goals. MSOE enters the Conference Tournament coming off a tough lost 1-2 lost to Dominican. The posted a 6-4 conference record to go along with their 10-5-3 overall record for the season. The Raiders are led by Sophomore Logan Andryk who has a league best 15 goals this season along with a league best 8 assists. Last time these two teams meet was in the regular season, and Concordia Wisconsin took the match with a 2-0 win.

 

Two local Women’s College Soccer teams will be facing off against each other in the six-team Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament when third-seeded Concordia University Wisconsin host six-seeded MSOE at Fitting Field this Sunday, November 3rd, kickoff is scheduled at 1:00pm.

Concordia Wisconsin has finished the regular season strong winning 3 out of the last 4 and a tie with Concordia Chicago. Their biggest win was a 1-0 upset to Edgewood College, who received the one seed in the conference tournament. CUW finished with a 10-7-1 overall record and an 8-2-1 conference mark. Concordia Wisconsin is led by the duo of junior Anna Hirssig and sophomore Carly Pfannerstill, each posting 13 goals this season. To catch up on the CUW Women’s Soccer season click here.

MSOE has earned a 7-4 conference finish to go with a 10-9 overall record. To finish out the regular season MSOE won 2 out of the last 3, only losing to Edgewood College by a score of 1-2. Sara Travia leads the Raiders into the conference tournament with a team leading 13 goals. MSOE returns to the conference tournament after making it to the semifinals last season. Concordia Wisconsin took the first meeting between these two teams with a 4-0 victory back on October 19th.

 

UW-Milwaukee Men’s Soccer team is finishing out the regular season conference play by playing host to Reigning Horizon League Champions Cleveland State on Saturday, November 9th at 7:00pm where they try to lock up the two-seed for the Horizon Championship Tournament. Currently UW-Milwaukee sits in second place in the conference standings with a 4-2 conference record, and an overall record of 12-2-2. UW-Milwaukee leads the Horizon league with 30 goals. Laurie Bell leads UW-Milwaukee and the league with 11 goals.  The 2013 Horizon League Championship begins on November 12th, with Quarterfinal action. UW-Milwaukee Women’s Soccer team sits atop the Horizon League standings with a 5-1 conference record, and a 7-8-1 overall record. The team finishes conference play with a match against Oakland TONIGHT, November 1st at 6:30pm. The Panthers look to capture their 14th-straight league crown and the No. 1 seed in the league tournament that begins on Tuesday, November 5th. Marquette Women’s Soccer team has won the Big East regular season title. With Maegan Kelly leading the Eagles all season long with highs of eight goals and seven assists for the season. The Eagles finish the regular season with a 15-3-0 overall record and a dominating 8-0-0 record in conference play. The Golden Eagles have one match in conference play, which will take place this Saturday, November 2nd, at Valley Fields, kickoff is at 5:30pm. Marquette will begin the quest for the Big East Championship crown when the Big East Championship begins November, 5th, with opponents TBA. Marquette Men’s Soccer team so far have earned a 9-4-1 overall record, along with posting a 5-1-1 record in the Big East. With two matches in conference play the Golden Eagles look to finish strong before heading into the Big East Championship, which will begin November 15th. The Eagles currently sitting at top of the conference standings, tied with Georgetown. Coming up next for the Eagles is a home match against Seton Hall this Saturday, November 2nd at 8:05pm. Closing out the season will be a match against DePaul in Chicago, Ill on November 8th at Noon. Your Milwaukee Wave opens up the Regular Season on the road against the Missouri Comets on Saturday, November 16th at 7:35pm.
