Game 1 of the MISL Playoff series between the Milwaukee Wave and Missouri Comets saw plenty of dramatics, as the Wave staged a huge second half rally, eventually winning in overtime to knock off the Comets. That win gave Milwaukee a 1-0 series lead, and they look to advance to the MISL Championship with a win in game 2 against Missouri TODAY at 3 p.m.

In game one Missouri jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after one quarter with goals from #15 Coady Andrews and #8 Milan Ivanovic. Missouri extended their lead to 6-0 when #11 Mads Falck scored on assists from #10 Jeff Hughes and #12 Robert Palmer. Hughes added a goal of his own on passes from #23 Byron Alvarez and #32 Lucas Rodriguez, and the Comets took an 8-0 lead into the second half.

In the third quarter, the Comets pushed their lead to 10-0 when #3 Christiano found Palmer for the score. Things changed dramatically after that, as the Wave started to get things going. #79 Hewerton and #21 Giuliano Oliviero scored to put the Wave’s deficit at 10-4 with one quarter left to play.

At the beginning of the fourth Hewerton found the net for his second goal to make it 10-6. Oliviero found #7 Luan Oliveira for another score, and the Wave trailed 10-8. With about 22 seconds left Hewerton completed the hat trick, sending the game into overtime tied 10-10.

In the overtime period #6 Tom Oatley found Oliviero, who fired a shot to the far upper corner past Missouri goalkeeper #24 Danny Waltman, and the Wave completed their comeback, winning 12-10.
