MKE WAVE ADDS FOUR PLAYERS; QUIROZ RETURNS

MKE Sports & Entertainment is pleased to announce the MKE Wave Professional Soccer Team have strengthened their roster with the addition of Victor Quiroz, Bato Radoncic, Amilcar Herrera and Ian Kalis. 

Defender #23 Victor Quiroz (Key-Ros) from Mexico City, Mexico, returns to the MKE Wave after spending the off-season with the Mexican National Arena Soccer Team. Last season among defenders, Quiroz finished second in assists with 16, was tied for seventh with 27 shot blocks and had a memorable 150-foot laser lofted over Missouri Comets goalkeeper Danny Waltman. Quiroz also won a championship at U.S. Cellular Arena when he was a member of La Raza de Monterrey in 2010.

“I am very happy to be back with the Wave,” said Quiroz. “This season under Coach Oliviero will be very good for the team. Our new players are good and will help us get the championship this season! Thank you to all the fans and for the confidence you have in the team and me. We will not disappoint!”

“We are all very excited to have Victor return this year with the Wave,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “Victor is one of the most experienced players in the league and we are looking forward to him having a great season.”

Forward #8 Bato Radoncic (Bah-Toe Ra-Dohn-Cheech) was born August 28, 1980 in Berane, Montenegro. In 1996, at the age of 16, Bato signed his first professional contract with the Berane, a 1st division Team of Montenegro. Bato played with that team for 3 years and during that time he was named MVP 3 consecutive years. In 2001, Bato would travel to the United States to take a position with the Milwaukee Rampage and was also called in to play for the United States League's Under 21 team in Portugal. Bato also played for the USA Futsal National Team from 2000-2001, Milwaukee Rampage (USL A-league ) from 2003-2005, Chicago Lightning from 2005-2007, Rockford Thunder (AISL) 2007 (American Indoor Soccer League champion and AISL MVP), 2009 Rockford Rampage leading scorer team MVP / NISL All-League first team (Team lost in the final v Baltimore Blast), 2010 Rockford Rampage leading scorer, 2011 MISL All league first team Chicago Riot, 2012 MISL semifinalist Kansas City Comets, 2013 MISL Rochester Lancers.

“Bato has had a lot of success in the indoor game,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “We are extremely excited to have him in a Wave uniform. Bato gives us a lot of strength at the target forward position.”

Midfielder / Forward #24 Amilcar Herrera (Ah-meal-car Her-air-ah), a graduate from Marquette University, was a Four-time First Team All-Milwaukee City Conference performer at Riverside University High School. While playing for Marquette University Men’s Soccer Team, Herrera appeared in 52 out of a possible 53 collegiate matches, including 51 straight games. In 2012-13, Herrera played for the Rockford Rampage and Chicago Mustangs of the (PASL) Professional Arena Soccer League.

“It’s a dream come true to play for my hometown,” said Herrera. “From now on, I just got to keep working hard and push hard everyday. I’m excited to be a part of the MKE Wave.”

“Amilcar showed up at the first day of tryouts and made an immediate impression,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “He has been at practice with the signed players for a couple of weeks now and has shown that he belongs at this level.”

Midfielder #6 Ian Kalis (Kay-less), born in Cleveland, Ohio. Raised from the age of 1 year old in Plano, Texas. Kalis was a 3-time Parade All-American in high school at Jesuit College Preparatory School. A member of the U-15, U-17, U-18, and U-20 U.S.A. Men's National Soccer teams. Attended and played at Duke University (2008-2009) then transferred to Southern Methodist University in Dallas and played there from 2009-2012. Kalis was drafted by FC Dallas in the 2012 (MLS) Major League Soccer, Super draft and played the 2012-2013 season there. He began law school at Marquette University in the Fall 2013, is in his second year of a three-year program and is expected to graduate May 2016.

“The opportunity arose to come play for the MKE Wave and I have goose bumps just thinking about it,” said Kalis. “I’m excited to be here and look forward to working hard on and off the field.”

“Ian was very quick to impress the coaching staff,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “He is an intelligent player that came into preseason prepared. I think he will be a quick learner of the indoor game.”

Major Arena Soccer League (MASL):
The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) is the top level of arena soccer in North America. The league was known as the Professional Arena Soccer League when it began play on October 25, 2008. The circuit concluded its sixth season with the Chicago Mustangs claiming the Newman Cup on March 16. On May 19, 2014 the league was reintroduced as the MASL with 24 teams in the US and Mexico. The Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL-Premier) just concluded its 16th season as the nation's top amateur arena soccer league and is the official developmental league of the MASL. Both the MASL and PASL-Premier are members of Confederacion Panamerica de Minifutbol (CPM).
