MKE WAVE DEFEAT DETROIT WAZA FLO IN REGULAR SEASON CLOSER

Your Six-Time Champion MKE Wave closed out the Major Arena Soccer League regular season with a win against the Detroit Waza Flo Saturday night at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, 12-6.

Burlington, Wisconsin’s very own Matt Eisold, starting in his second game, made 9 saves, allowed 5 goals and played over 34 minutes. In the second quarter Head Coach Giuliano Olivero put in the sixth attacker; switching between #28 Jonathan Greenfield, #9 Mike Lookingland and #23 Victor Quiroz. The Wave had a 5 to 3 lead at the end of the first half, with goals coming from #26 Ian Bennett, #10 Luan Oliveira, #18 Stefan St. Louis, #4 Corey Adamson and #20 Marcelo Fontana.

It was 46 seconds into the third quarter when #26 Ian Bennett scored his second of the night. The Wave was able to score an additional 6 goals; coming from #20 Marcelo Fontana (second of the night), #8 Bato Radoncic and scoring 2 goals was #77 Marcio Letie and #18 Stefan St. Louis.

With just about one minute remaining in the game, MKE Wave Forward #26 Ian Bennett suffered an injury and was escorted off the field by medical staff.

Coach Oliviero on…
Tonight’s final regular season home game:
“I thought we had a great crowd tonight and our players put on a great show for the fans. There are a few things we need to iron out on the defensive end but I thing we are heading in the right direction.”

Switching between Goalkeeper Matt Eisold and sixth attackers:
“We’ve been a little unlucky with goalkeepers this year, we are on our fourth. We just want to be prepared for the playoffs and if we do have to pull the goalie whether it’s to get back into the game or we have another goalkeeper injury, we’ll be prepared for it. I thought our sixth attackers play great today.”

Ian Bennett:
“At first, we thought it was really bad, he was slow to get up and slow to get off the field. Doctor’s reports say it is a sprain, to what to degree, I don’t know but I’m confident we’ll have him for game one of the playoffs Thursday in Chicago.”
