MKE WAVE DROPS HEARTBREAKER TO SYRACUSE IN OVERTIME

Your Six-Time Champion Milwaukee Wave lost in overtime Saturday afternoon at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena against the Syracuse Sliver Knights, 10-9.

“You’ve got to give Syracuse a lot of credit today,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “Player for player I think we all know they can compete with any team in the league and they showed that tonight. I’m disappointed we lost today,”

After losing starting goalkeeper Nick Vorberg Saturday night against Wichita B52’s and losing Jeff Richey Thursday at practice, the MKE Wave signed Matt Eisold. Playing in his first game he saw 23 shots and saved 13.

“I couldn’t be prouder of Matt,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “He made a lot of great saves today and played very smart. We could of done a better job helping him out on a couple goals but overall Matt had a great game.”

It was a back and forth game the first half with both teams scoring 4 goals in the first half. MKE Wave goals coming from Ian Bennett, Corey Adamson and two goals from Tony Walls.

The Syracuse Silver Knights came out firing in third quarter, scoring four goals, while the Wave scored 2; from Marcio Leite and Stefan St. Louis. Syracuse had the lead at the end of the third 8-6. The Wave came out with 3 quick goals; coming Stefan St. Louis and 2 from Luan Oliveira. The Wave had the lead, but Syracuse found the back of the net with 4 minutes and 13 seconds left to tie the game.

The game then went into overtime, next goal wins the game. Syracuse Silver Knights had a top of the box restart, where Nelson Santana scored the game winning goal.
