MKE WAVE HEAD INTO TOUGH WEEKEND WITHOUT GOALKEEPER MARCEL FEENSTRA

our Six-Time Champion MKE Wave head into Major Arena Soccer League action this holiday weekend against the St. Louis Ambush, Friday, November 28th, 7:35pm at The Family Arena and Saturday, November 29th vs. the Chicago Mustangs, 7pm at Sears Center without goalkeeper Marcel Feenstra.

Feenstra, tore his Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) and Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) with 5 minutes to go in the third quarter vs. the Detroit Waza Flo last Saturday and is and scheduled for surgery December 2nd at Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital.

“I am doing ok and not in that much pain,” said Feenstra. “I’m more bummed about missing the whole season and being able to practice and play.

I’m happy the surgery will be done this quick so I can focus on my recovery and come back next season strong.”

“Marcel is a big loss for the team,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “He has been a championship MVP and we will miss not having him in goal. Knowing Marcel's personality, I know he will work extremely hard to comeback stronger than ever next season.”

“You cannot replace Marcel and what he brings to the table day in and day out practice and games,” said Assistant Coach / Goalkeeper Nick Vorberg. “I was really looking forward to sharing the nets this season and winning a championship with him on the field. Especially during crucial back to back games. I wish him the best and support in his recovery and therapy and know that he is always there for us in behind the scenes to help win this season. No doubt he will be back stronger than ever!”

After Marcel suffered his injury last Saturday in Detroit, defender #23 Victor Quiroz was pressed into action, manned the nets for the final 24 minutes, completed Feenstra's shutout in a 4-0 win and earned a spot on the MASL Team of the Week.

As for this weekend vs. St. Louis and Chicago…

''We are heading into possibly the toughest weekend of our season,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “Back to back games vs. potential divisional playoff opponents. We are taking it one game at a time and putting our focus on getting a positive result in St. Louis. Players looked good in training this week and we want to build some momentum after last weeks win in Detroit.''
