Surprisingly, Rochester got the scoring started late in the first period, taking a 1-0 lead into the second. However, the Wave would respond with five goals in the second period, starting Wave Captain Ian Bennett, who would go on to have four goals in the game, more than the Lancers scored in the game.

Other highlight performances for the Wave included Max Ferdinand with 3 assists, Mequon, Wisconsin native Andrew Wiedabach putting up two goals plus an assist, and the first professional goals for Dani Morello (in just his second game with the Wave) and Ali Barry. Guilherme Veiga, Marcio Leite, Angel Curiel, Luan Oliveira, Isaac Pereyra, and Chad Vandegriffe (2) also scored goals for the Wave. The Wave notched 3 goals in the third period and 7 in the fourth period. The Wave outshot the Lancers 62 to 11.

Matt Eisold started in net for the injured Rafa Diaz, stopping three of the six shots against him in 52 minutes of play. Michael Vollmer saw his first ever pro action ever, playing the 8 minutes in front of the net for the Wave.

Coach Giuliano Oliviero was very proud of his roster’s performance stating “there’s a lot of competition right now, not just for shifts, but for roster spots too, game in and game out.” Looking to the future, Coach Oliviero said that what the Wave does on the training field in the next two weeks is extremely important, “especially as we look to build on tonight and carry it into the Kansas City/Harrisburg weekend.”

The Wave (8-3) take a two week break from action before returning to the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Saturday February 8 at 6:07 pm against the Kansas City Comets as part of a weekend doubleheader. It will be Girl Scout Night, plus the Mascot Game, Brad Beach's Birthday Party, and fans can bid on our custom 7x Championship Jerseys!
