NCAA LOCAL COLLEGE SOCCER NEWS

Men’s College Soccer:

The Marquette Golden Eagles have advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship, with an exciting 1-0 overtime victory over Akron this past weekend. With 25 seconds remaining in overtime, Freshman Coco Navarro tailed the golden goal for the Eagles. This was their first-ever NCAA tournament victory, which sends them on to the Round of 16 to face the 8th seed Virginia Cavaliers (11-5-5), on December 1st in Charlottsville, Va.

UW-Milwaukee Panthers fell to in state rivals, University of Wisconsin-Madison, by a score of 1-0. The Panthers dominated the second half with 9 shots but couldn’t get one on the board. The Panthers won the possession game over the Badgers but that wasn’t enough to send them to the second-round of the NCAA tournament. Milwaukee ends their season with a 15-3-2 record.

The Wisconsin Badgers advanced to face the third seed, Notre Dame in the second round. The Badgers lost 0-4 to the Fight Irish this past weekend. This was the second game all season that the Badgers got shut out in a match. The Badgers finish the season with 14 wins and look to build on the success of this year for years to come.
