PERERA HAT TRICK LEADS WAVE ROUT OF ROCHESTER

MILWAUKEE (Jan. 11, 2014) — The Milwaukee Wave won their fourth consecutive game on Saturday night, rolling over the Rochester Lancers at the U.S. Cellular Arena 28-12.

Nicholas Perera led the team with a hat trick and four players — Carlos Munoz, JC Banks, Guiliano Oliviero and bobblehead honoree Ian Bennett — scored two each as Milwaukee (8-1) extended its Major Indoor Soccer League lead to a full game over Baltimore. Rochester fell to 3-9.

The Wave's offensive onslaught — their fifth 20-point game of the season — started early, with Munoz and then Banks scoring in the first 3:04 of the match. Maurico Salles pulled back a 3-pointer for Rochester and later added a 2-pointer to make it 6-5, but the Wave scored the last eight points of the half and built the lead as high as 18 points.

“Since I've been here, (the scoring depth) has been like that,” said Perera, who now has 26 points this season, tied for seventh in the MISL. “If you look at a lot of the teams, there are one or two guys who rack up all the points. But here we have five, six, seven guys who get involved in the scoring.”

Marcio Leite assisted on the first three Wave goals and five overall. Marcel Feenstra was credited with 35 saves in a contest with lots of offense; Feenstra is 5-0 this season and has every victory in the winning streak as Nick Vorberg recovers from an injury.

The Wave plays and home-and-home series with Missouri (6-4) next Friday and Saturday. Missouri hosts the first game at 7:35 p.m. Friday, and the Wave host the return match at 6 p.m. Saturday.
