WAVE FOCUSED AND READY FOR BALTIMORE IN MASL CONFERENCE FINAL FRIDAY AND SUNDAY IN MILWAUKEE
The 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave has advanced to the Major Arena Soccer League Ron Newman Cup Eastern Conference Final and will face their longtime rivals, the Baltimore Blast at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.MilwaukeeWave.com or at the Box Office prior to the game.
“It’s only fitting to be taking on the Blast head to head for the right to advance to the championship series,” said Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “There’s a lot of history between the two organizations and championships as well but we’re at home, on our turf and in front of our fans, and it’s on us to get the job done and we feel like we’re in a great place to do that.” Since 2014, Milwaukee and Baltimore have met a total 18 times over 5 seasons (MKE 8 / BAL 10) with each obtaining a championship. In the 2018-19 season, Milwaukee knocked out Baltimore in the Eastern Conference Final and went on to defeat Monterrey for the Ron Newman Cup. In the 2016-17 season Baltimore knocked out Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference Final and went on to defeat Sonora for the Ron Newman Cup. “Our veteran players have been catching up our young guys on the history between our two teams,” added Oliviero. “But you can’t beat playoff experience and our young guys got to experience that against Utica. They saw a lot of adversity, played through it and got to the other side. Hopefully against Baltimore we don't put ourselves in those situations but at the same time the Utica series made them better players and made them understand what the playoffs are about. Now you add Baltimore to the equation and here we go; it’s one more notch and we’re ready for it.” *If the series is tied it will be followed by a knockout game following game two, which will be treated as an entirely new game. The knockout game will be one, full 15-minute period. New lineups will be submitted just like the start of a new game. If tied after the 1st full 15-minute period, additional overtime periods of 10-minutes; sudden victory periods, will be played until a winner is determined. Tickets are on sale now at
