WAVE MAKE NEW YORK STATE SWING THIS WEEKEND
MILWAUKEE (Feb. 6, 2014) – The Milwaukee Wave take on their only New York State swing of the season this weekend, visiting the Syracuse Silver Knights on Friday and the Rochester Lancers on Sunday.
Friday's kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. CST and Sunday's game is at 2 p.m. CST. Both games can be seen on YouTube via the Syracuse and Rochester channels.
Milwaukee (11-2) dominated both teams when they made their only visits to the U.S. Cellular Arena. The Wave doubled up Syracuse 20-10 on New Year’s Eve, then recorded their highest point total of the season Jan. 11 in a 28-12 win over Rochester.
The Silver Knights (9-6) have been inconsistent, playing Baltimore tough and beating Missouri twice, but also dropping a pair of games to expansion St. Louis. Kennardo Forbes is the league’s second-leading scorer with 51 points (5 3PG, 13 2PG, 10A) and dangerous veteran target Machel Millwood tops the MISL with 18 assists. Keeper Bryan O’Quinn is second in the league with a .784 save percentage.
Rochester (5-10) essentially needs to win every game to have a shot at making the playoffs; Milwaukee and Baltimore (11-3) have already clinched. The Lancers have been off since a 17-2 loss to the Blast on Jan. 25. In the three games prior to that, Mauricio Salles had 8 goals and 19 total points, including a 2-pointer and 3-pointer against Milwaukee on Jan. 11.
The Wave come in on a three-game winning streak and averaging 17.7 points in those games. It’s always somebody different for the Wave, who enter the weekend with four of the league’s top 11 scorers. Carlos Munoz is atop that list with 44 points, fourth in the MISL.
The Wave return home Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. against the Pennsylvania Roar. For tickets, visit Ticketmaster.com or call 414-224-9283.
