WAVE PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-MISL/ UP FOR AWARDS!

Recently released were the members of the multiple All-MISL teams, plus the finalists for the MISL Awards. The Wave has several players that were included in both.

Wave Goalkeeper Nick Vorberg was named to the 2012-13 All-MISL 1st team. Vorberg finished the season with an 11-2 record, while leading the MISL with 7.76 points against average, and an .815 save percentage. His play was an integral part of the Wave’s regular season success.

The Wave’s Luan Oliveira was named to both the 2012-13 All-MISL 2nd and Rookie Teams. In his first season Oliveira played in 25 games, leading the Wave (seventh in the MISL) with 68 points. Oliveira had 25 goals and 16 assists, proving to be a great addition to the team this season.

Joining Vorberg on the first team were Doug Miller and Mauricio Salles of Rochester, Leo Gibson of Missouri, Mike Lookingland of Baltimore, and Neto from Syracuse. Other members of the second team are Jeff Richey and Carlos Farias of Chicago, Pat Healy of Baltimore, Nelson Santana of Syracuse, and Vahid Assadpour from Missouri. Others named to the All-Rookie team were William Vanzela and Lucas Roque of Baltimore, Stephen Basso and Pedrinho of Rochester, and Carlos Munoz from Chicago.

Both players were candidates for the MISL regular season awards as well. Vorberg was a finalist for the Goalkeeper of the Year, while Oliveira is up for the Rookie of the Year Award. Wave head coach Keith Tozer is one of three finalists for the MISL coach of the year after leading the Wave to a 21-5 regular season record, along with a 16 game winning streak in the middle of the season.

In competition with Vorberg is Vanzela and Richey, while Munoz and Vanzela are the other candidates for Rookie of the Year. Danny Kelly from Baltimore and Novica Marojevic of Chicago are the other finalists for coach of the year.

Awards will be announced Wednesday at 3:30pm CT at the MISL Championship Series Media Event in Missouri.
