MILWAUKEE, WI - The 7-Time Champions Milwaukee Wave are back in Milwaukee and charging up for their return where they’ll host the San Diego Sockers and Kansas City Comets in a powerhouse weekend of MASL Action.

For the first time since the turn of the new year, the Milwaukee Wave return to UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena where they’ll face the San Diego Sockers on Saturday, December 17 at 6:05pm CST. The turn around is brief, as they’ll rematch the Kansas City Comets the next day, Sunday, January 18 at 2:05pm CST—this time in Milwaukee.

“It was amazing. Anytime we move in there, and get three points off of them, it's almost like a double win,” Derek Huffman said. Huffman returned from a four game absence to face the Kansas City Comets contributing an assist in an 8-7 road win. Huffman understands the importance of taking points against teams in the top half of a condensed league.

“You're looking for certain matchups and who you can take advantage of. And I think this year, I've done well at finding the right matchups and exploiting [them],” Alex Steinwasher said. Steinwasher has performed considerably well this season, particularly when playing against the Comets and the Sockers, averaging 2.0 points against the two teams.

“I know they're going to want the revenge but with our crowd behind us, it's going to be electrifying,” Said Mario Alvarez, recalling the Milwaukee Wave’s season opener against the San Diego Sockers in December which saw the Wave defeat the Sockers 8-4 at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California. Alvarez is excited to face the Sockers at home for the first time this year. Alvarez is in top form after his performance against the Kansas City Comets on Sunday where he created five goals and earned his second MASL Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.

“San Diego has individually some of the best players in the league. They're looking better and better every week,” Head Coach Marcio Leite said. The San Diego Sockers put the league on notice this week, sweeping their Baltimore-Utica road trip winning back to back games on the road against the Baltimore Blast and Utica City FC. This string of success earned veteran goalkeeper Boris Pardo MASL Goalkeeper of the Week alongside his teammate Nick Perera who claimed the Offensive Player of the Week award.

“All the boys are ready, we're excited, and can't wait to play in front of the fans,” Huffman said. He’s expected to play at home for the first time this season and is eager to do so in front of the historic Milwaukee Wave fan base.

“Kansas City and San Diego, they play a similar style with some of the best targets in the league. So we do need to make their target game harder,” Leite said. Fans can expect a fast-paced weekend as the three teams seated at the top of the MASL table will take center stage in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Wave will take on the San Diego Sockers at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, January 17 at 6:05pm CST.

The second half of the back to back sees the Milwaukee Wave in a rematch against the Kansas City Comets at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sunday, January 18 at 2:05pm CST.
