WAVE TRY TO EXTEND DOMINANCE OF AMBUSH

MILWAUKEE (Jan. 24, 2014) – The Milwaukee Wave (9-2) host the St. Louis Ambush (4-8) this Saturday at 6 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Arena, having won home games the previous two Saturday nights over Rochester and Missouri by an average of 14 points.

The Wave were dominant in their only home game against the expansion Ambush this season, jumping out to a 16-2 halftime lead in a 24-4 victory on Dec. 28. Carlos Munoz tallied a goal in each quarter to lead the Wave. Munoz did not score in either game of last weekend’s home-and-home series with Missouri, but a deep Wave attack picked him up. Ian Bennett scored three times and Luan Oliveira and Jonathan Greenfield each had a pair. Marcio Leite tacked on an assist in each game and remains tied for the league lead with 16.

In the teams' only other meeting this year, Milwaukee trailed much of the game but rallied for a 13-11 win in St. Louis on Jan. 3.

St. Louis suffered through a difficult East Coast road trip last weekend, with losses at Baltimore (14-2) and Pennsylvania (16-0). They have to travel to dangerous Missouri on Friday night before coming to Milwaukee. Five times this season the Ambush have scored less than 10 points. Odaine Sinclair leads the Ambush with 26 points (1 3PG, 9 2PG, 5 A).

Keeper Jeff Richey, an indoor veteran and former member of the U.S. national futsal team, gives the Ambush some experience in the back. He is allowing 14.66 points per game, ninth among all MISL keepers.

After Saturday's game the Wave will see the Ambush three more times — Feb. 1 and 21 in St. Louis and March 1 in Milwaukee.

Saturday is the annual Mascot/Celebrity Game at halftime, and fans will receive T-shirts courtesy of Eggers Imprints while supplies last. For tickets to Saturday's game or any Milwaukee Wave game, visit Ticketmaster or call the Wave office at 414-224-9283. Find the Wave online at milwaukeewave.com.
